MOT and odometer readings

I wasn't the one that took it to the garage, got my girlfriend to drop it off and pick it up.

Not a bad thing, the advisories on the MOT this time around are very minor.  Neither really need doing any time soon.

usual with ppl like that they think they will get the work but glad your all sorted now

Absolutely detest that garage, only went again as they had to re-MOT it for free.

I bet when I get it MOT'd again they find neither of the advisories they listed today.

Don't worry too much about advisories, obviously check them out, but mostly it's to make it look like the tester is actually paying attention.

Yeah definitely seems that way.  Was told before they put them there so VOSA can see they bother to see things.

Exactly.
I've been going to the same MOT place for the last 6 years. When i first went there i got some odd advisories.
Now if anything comes up the tester points it out to me.

I think the guy that did my MOT needed to get his failure rates up, he failed me for headlight adjustment then passed me 5 mins later once the aim was sorted

I am glad I don't get any of those problems, I take all my own and my mates cars to an mot testing station that only does mots, tyres, exhausts and batteries, they don't fail it to get the work then.

There is a scrap yard just down the road so if I get a fail on something small they pass it and let me fix it on their ramp, I'm lucky really, I had a car mot'd with them and they missed 3 failures, I pointed them out and they said if I'd kept my mouth shut it would have passed, I just said I'd rather know it has a proper mot, since then if I fail on anything small it gets fixed on the spot, anything big they pass it and just say get it done knowing i will and if my emissions are out the probe goes up another car.

It helps that i send a lot of people there for mot's and tyres and have always looked after them if they put a car on the ramp for me to have a look under it, most people just take it for granted, so when I give them £20 for putting it in the air they appreciate it, funny thing is the bloke that owns it and does my tests used to work at central tyre, I hated them and got armed police sent out to me after threatening the staff with a chainsaw, get on well with him now.

My vr was at about 197k last year for its MOT, my new clocks only read about 114k so when it goes in for MOT sometime this month what would he put down? Obviously i cant have it looking like ive reversed 83k
