mark 3 cab wont start coil?

So tried starting the cab i have been given. Its the lovely 1.8 single point injection engine!

Anyway it had been sat for months and turns over, I can hear an arching spark so think it might be the coil. The plastic bit of the coil has come away from the alloy base at the top as the screws have corroded and broken off. Does this need to be tight to the alloy to provide an earth?

put it this way  i keep a spare coil in the boot    by the sounds of it it needs a new one  they do fail all to often
