AGG vacuum pipe location pic request
« on: 21 February 2012, 14:44 »
Started trying to replace my vacuum pipes on my 8v last weekend with some silicone stuff. Got a bit confused as from searches on here was looking for 3 pipes to replace. Got air con on mine so think it differs in set up!

1) Was looking for one that goes to ECU. Took scuttle panel off and could only see a power cable going to ECU. Couldnt see a vacuum pipe going through a grommet into there, although didnt take ECU out. Did find one going to a nipple (no sniggering) on the bulkhead which went to a small 2 - way black box-like valve near the coolant tank, so replaced that.

Borrowing a pic from a post from the other day, the nipple was right by where his two green clips at the back are:

The other part of that valve seems to be a very long green vacuum pipe that goes quite a way round the engine. Seems in decent nick on the face of it. Guessing this is A/c related

2) replaced one short one from right of throttle body, which is the one near the throttle cable on his pic

Is there another I need to do? And did I replace the right one for the ECU?

On mine, the 2 valves on the hose from throttle body to brake servo have the left one going to the green vacuum pipe (air con???) and the right one is blanked off.

The AGG Does not have a vac pipe to the ECU, thats for the valver and the TDI,  and possibly the older 2E 8V???

10 golfs and counting!

Engine cranes = the ultimate tool to test the tensile strength of Everything you didn't disconnect!

ah that would make sense! So the two that I have changed, are they the only 3-4mm ones to change on the 8v AGG?
