idle isnt right

i have a 1996 (N reg) golf GTImk 3 and it isnt idleing right it keeps cutting out or dropping when im ticking over ive been told it could be the idle control valve however it isnt external unlike the previouse versions where it is outside the throtle body dse anyone know how i can take it out and clean it or how i go about replacing it its the ~AGG engine please help any usefull links on how to go about it would be great too :(

Try using the search function, there is a wealth of knowledge on the MK3 which for a change I'm helping you to point you in the right direction for you Mk3 chaps!

Key words ISV, MK3 idle issues, rough MK3, etc you get the jist, but failing that there is a MK3 section you can trawl through might be interesting things in there, but I don't venture near the quay side!  :wink:

No ISV on an AGG, sounds like you need to clean the throttle body out but first use the search function as this has been done to death like Ben hur :grin:

thanks guys apparently the idle control is built into the throttle body im getting it computer read on monday and should defo find out what it is ive just took the breather pipes off and they were caked in sh!t so ive cleaned them but still not idleing properly will take the throtle body off during this week to see if it needs a clean
