Do ecu power chips actually work on 2.0 8v?

The particular chip in question was fitted and dynoed by RubJonny which then prompted Khare, myself and several others on here to follow suit. No problems arose on mine and its been installed for over a year.

Correct. RJ dynoed his car on the same day with and without the chip. The result was 6hp gain. I'm off to RR day in the JKM rr day on the 11th of feb. Last time there I had 155hp, and the only mod since has been the chip, so whatever I get now will be what the chip gave. I'm hoping for 160hp

What would be really interesting is AFR readings with and without the chip, I would love to know how rich it is running.

Someone on here tried one of them £50 ebay jobbers and got good results bhp wise and better mpg. Forget who it was

I know that the 8v isn't exactly renowned for its cheap performance mods... could you just chuck the chip straight in a standard 8v and still expect to get decent gains (5+BHP?)

If not, what kind of mods would you guys suggest first? air filter? exhaust?

I've got AFR chart from last time, will compare it to the new one too. My prediction from the feel of the engine is its smoothed out the power, gained good amounts midrange, torque is held for longer and its more linear. Let's see if its true!

16v enjoy mods more, so I reckon the 8v will only see 3 or 4 hp from the chip. To be honest, 16v is a much better base than the 8v, so save your moneis and buy a 16v engine and stick it in your car, or just buy a 16v.

And eBay seller is pepeoi. I think they're about £40. He will ask you for the ecu number. If it's a soldering in job I wouldn't bother though, unless you pay a ecu specialist/tuner to change it you most likely will end up destroying the ecu.
