Erm... Hi!
« on: 23 January 2012, 09:45 »
I run a trackday club/forum (not sure if i can post links?), and i've owned track cars for years, heres a couple...

106 which i built up with a tuned 1.5 TU lump - pokey :p

I've had several cars since, MR2's, Civics, Del Sol's, 106's, 205's, Land Rovers, over the past few years i've been building this...

It's 1 of only 2 Honda City's in the country, a little 1.3 VTEC beast. Blew it up, cut up one of my MR2's and did this...

RWD, Rear Engined, Turbo'd Honda hatchback.

I've just sold my Discovery... Was a surprisingly quick TDi, major boost and fueling uppage going on under there...

So after a few weeks browsing the small ads for my next project, ebay, pistonheads, you name it, at 10.30 at night this advert got placed in my local freeads...

vw golf mk2 with a twist - 2 door 1.6 driver looks like gti full coil over kit 2.1 tsr engine long tax mot full stainless exhaust four branch manifuld looks very cool swap why

Hmm... worth a look.

Left the next morning, had a test drive, left £375 lighter and drove it home!

The day after i bought it i headed to North Devon for a week, nearly 1000 faultless miles!

Then This happened...

Back on the bay... bought this...

Always wanted an E30, esp a tourer... hated it, got rid within two weeks.

I've owned/blown up a couple more since, last night I picked up the car I'm entering in the PPC £999 Challenge - a 1998 Polo Saloon, for £150.

For those of you who've not seen/heard of the £999 Challenge...

The idea is uncompromisingly simple and theoretically foolproof. Take one car – it must be currently road legal, and even have one of those nice green sheets of paper issued by the Ministry of Transport for good behaviour. Most importantly it must be bought, built or both for under £1000.

We don’t care how this is done as long as the total cost is under a grand, and you’ve obtained parts and services through means that any of your competitors might follow. You might work at McLaren and be able to borrow Lewis Hamilton’s spare engine but if you turn up with it nailed into a rusty Mk 2 Fiesta you’ll be disqualified.

We’re going to test straight-line speed in a quarter mile drag race, then check out handling over a timed slalom course. And where better than one of the UK’s top drag strips - Santa Pod.

The most important part in this event is to keep to the spirit of the event. No one has yet been signed up by Ferrari because they’ve done well in past PPC £999 events, so don’t try and win by bending the spending limits, knobbling other competitors or whinging to the organisers about the weather.

Which now looks like...

Plan is to fit an 8v MK3 GTi black and a MK2 GTi head and see how it goes!!

So yeah... Hi :)

Thanks :)

Came round a blind corner to see a stopped car, locked up, skidded accross the road to avoid it, hit an Octavia head on, into the ditch into the rock.

I loved that car :(

I'm from Gloucester.
