Hi. I put a post up about changing a relay, but can't find it now.

Anyways I opened up the fuse box and this is what I saw:

I don't know how to upload here so see the flickr links
 please!

No number 30 relay to be found. (which I thought I would just swap out...sure life is never that easy)

Great I have no idea what somebody has done here...no idea which relay is for what and if I do decide to touch something if it wont burn the ECU or something else to Kingdom Come.
The white one at the back is relay number 1. going into the Land of Nowhere.

Please anyone tell me what relays are for what and whether they are in the right spot and what the hell do I do about the wire Anyways notice that there is a red lead going out into nothingness. This is really worrying as this for sure is not a factory boo boo.
The lady who owned the car beforehand stated that she took it to the VW dealer for a long time, but when the battery died she just took it to the nearest garage and they replaced it. I remember when I was buying it the passenger door wouldn't open, but that was the only time it did that. Car has never run properly since according to her. Anyways I bought the golf and didn't have any real problems with it. But now the problem of poor fuel economy has surfaced after changing the rocker arm cover gasket..and who knows why that is cause I have looked at a lot of things..but they are not it. Plus the car bucks into first until it warms up. I had to change the coilpack recently. The car runs very well but idles super rough. I could not find a leak in any of the hoses.

In the past sometimes (twice) the headlights have gone out at random. The rear tail light works/does not work, the radio has sometimes decided to turn itself off and the driver's electric window decided to stop working.

Not too bad for a 16 year old car as they are notorious for electrical problems.

Anyways does anyone know which relays are supposed to go where and why oh why is that wire there that leads to nothing?

The dealer installed a Sony CD changer and I HOPE that it was not them that did some custom wiring. Still pretty scary to see a wire that goes to nowhere in a car...especially in the relay tray.

In other words HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!

ok the lead is probably to something that was hooked up in the car (phone holder etc) and has been removed but they left the wire..but all the other issues remain...dum dum dum!
