can anyone suggest a solution

i am try to check the bulbs in the driversides rear light bulbs but cant get the fitment off or through the gap to check the bulbs.  3dr mk4 gti x reg

The whole unit unclips from the tail light - then the bulbs just push down and twist out  :smiley:

iirc it is a pig to get out, almost like the bulbs are gonna break as you pull it oout but with a wiggle it should pop out  :wink:

thought i was going to snap a bulb when i was trying to get them out, but it is possible.

thanks guys the other side was done easily but
 which is the best route through the carpet,the side bit which house the 12v socket or boot carpet it self ,as the gap to get to the lightunit is too tight to get a grip

when ever ive changed bulbs in mine, ive just taken off the little cover

just unclip it then use index finger and thub to manouver it out, thats what i did iirc.
its tight but there should be enough room :)
