I bought 
it brand new from stock, its only a bog standard 3 door one plus met black paint, but thats pretty much all i wanted anyway. Maybe i would have added cruise control and rcd510 but im happy with the black and white display on rcd310 now ive seen in the flesh, looks quite smart.
I was looking for a 60/11 reg gti with xenons, cloth or leather or maybe a R but wasn't that keen on paying around 25-28k on a car thats nearly 2 years old. Then the ed35 came up and i got a fairly decent discount so it was a no brainer really.

P.s im keeping the van
That sounds like a sensible buy really. The car is pretty well specced as standard and the RCD 310 is nice and user friendly. Most other things you might want in future you could retro fit anyway. If, like me, it's not a daily driver then you don't actually need that many options.
