Bong Bong Bong???
« on: 27 December 2011, 13:49 »
Gave the car a quick wash yesterday while i had the chance, vacuumed it out first then washed it, anyway i had to go in the boot for the window cleaner last thing and the boot light went out within about 5 seconds and the car started to Bong!? It's a tone i've never heard before, a Bong every 5 seconds or so, confused i got in the car and put the stereo on to see if it was coming from that, the stereo then displayed a message like "please start the engine to save the cars battery, this device will now shut down"

Ok, so the battery was drained but i hadn't had the doors open for any longer than usual, the car hasn't been used for 4 days but it's been left for weeks before with no issues!? I'm now worried that something is draining it, the only mods i've done are LED's and bluetooth.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Now if you've had the radio while you were cleaning the car it will shut off after 20 minutes so you turn the ignition on to start it again for another 20 minutes. This is a bit of a pain but if you press the radio button on again it will come on without using the ignition on/off but it will bong after 10 minutes and you will get a warning on the radio saying battery flat\charge battery or something like that. This is the supid VW electronics.

Obviously the car started ok so the battery wasn't discharged?

@jdjd, i've only got the one car so thats out.

@keith, i wasn't using the stereo whilst cleaning the car, i could understand it running flat if i was tbh, the car turned over no problem so went for a little drive to put a bit of charge back in the battery, i can't see the battery being knackered as the cars only done 8500 miles and gets used most days for 20 miles or so. :undecided:
