Be that as it may, it didn't stop me sending the logbook back having only marked the "scrapped" box and "date of scrapping" in section 6. No other documents were sent with this and as stated earlier, I received a nice letter from the DVLA a couple of weeks later

i think my friend might have to just send the V5 back with a note saying he does not own it anymore as it has been scrapped. did it all himself, so no ATF or anyone else involved.
