help with a agu turbo 1999
« on: 14 December 2011, 22:06 »
hello again,

Ive just been having a ganders at the pipes in the golf and noticed theres a bit of plastic on the turbo that is completly snapped. I cant get a good look at it and i cant find any pics on google so im not sure how important it is. I really have no idea what the turbo looks like or how it is replaced.

Does any one know the bit im talking about? do i need to replace it......unsure if i can get the part or if it is part of the turbo its self?

bit of plastic is a light grey colour.

any help on this would be great.

thanks in advance

i managed to get a better look, its the intercooler thats cracked top and bottom top is the brakets that hold it in place (bad times cause its wobbling lots) and the bottom looks like its leaking oil or some thing (more bad times cause any leak is bad)

not really sure how important this is or if its an easy change?

Thanks Chris might very well take you up on that offer. Im still driving the car to and from work it seems ok there has been a loss of power in the last few weeks but ive put it down to old pipes needing a change.

PM me a price you want for it and i will see if the bank allow me to spend some pennies before xmas.

thanks

these cars are getting old now, in my opinion, its probably better to modify them with uprated silicone stuff rather than replace with OEM perrishable rubber  ect
take the standard smic off chris to get you by as i am in no doubt its i very good condition. then source a "good" fmic kit.

Thanks Jamie your always on to post some thing useful. Plans are to fit a SMIC with new silicon hoses all round as they are knacked. I brought the car as standard knowing this would be a problem but also hoping it hadnt been ragged to death!!!

Its just funds now as i was wasnt expecting to need a new intercooler
