exposure lights are the shizzle! Mountain biking products, like many things, vary widely in quality and I am now a firm believer in the Chris King component theory (makers of expensive but highly durable bearing parts). Spend a lot on top notch kit that will last years, and enjoy the savings over the long term.

Make the investment, buy decent kit. A head mounted exposure diablo light would be sufficient. With a bar light at a later date if needed.

Sorry to bring up an old topic... but i finally managed to use the search function

Has anyone had any experience of use with a Hope Vision 1 LED front light?

Also thinking of getting a Cateye TL-LD1100 rear bike light?

any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated

Depends on what you are going to be using it for. IMO hope have kinda lost it a little in the light market these days, but having said that if I hadn't got such a good deal on my exposure, I probably would have gone for hope.
I personally wouldn't spend a fortune on a rear light as I don't spend a lot of time on the road. I'm currently running one of these http://www.cyclexpress.co.uk/tl-ld600rearlight.aspx but most of the guys I'm out with use something like this For a rear http://www.cyclexpress.co.uk/products/SL110_Loop_Light_Set.aspx as you only need to "be seen" with a rear.

I got the cateye LD1100 from ebay and that seems to do the job for a rear light. Just need a decent front light now... popped down to local bike shop and they had a LD530(?) as a front light which seemed to do the trick. Plus I do like the brackets for the cateye stuff... hopefully something cheap will pop up on ebay at some point

Just don't mount a light on your forks like I did when I was 12. Light fell off, bracket went in the spokes. I ended up using my chin as a brake...
