V6 motion engine noise

I am just looking to part ex my beloved MkII for a V6 motion. The V6 has a whirring noise in the engine any experts got any advise on what it might be ?
i have had so many different sets of feedback regarding the timing chain and whether it is supect on this car.

You know you can scan the chains with vag-com to find out if they are worn.

Mines pretty quiet tbh even after a hard drive. Is the sound their all the time like when revving it?
