Ok, so after I uploaded 'loads' of pics (sorry about that) all taken with my FUJI FINEPIX S1500 Bridge set to auto, I went out today and tried to get some pics where I had to set my own apature, iso, white balance, light etc..... Then I did some very basic editing...........as per suggestions by you all

Results are below (9 out 32 that I took)



















As always, I'm trying to take everything on board, so as usual, please tell/show me where I'm going right/wrong

Take a bit more time looking at what you're shooting, think in your head how you want it look and recreate it if you can. 

Remember placing the focal point using 2/3rds rule will make the picture more insteresting.

Most of all, get yourself a DSLR if you can...I'm sure your photography would come on leaps and bounds.

focus is well off on this



too much flash



again the flash is too harsh, it's separated the background but it's also ruined the photo as you've lost detail and definition



with some processing you could add some tone and expression to this, at the moment it's too blue.



take a step back you might be able to turn this into a minimalistic shot of the stump against the grass.



use a longer focal length or get closer, you could use this to enhance the perspective of the columns on a angle



blacks are too high in this, a duo or moto tone could add some age to the photo.





crop the top two mines of bricks out of this, and straighten it up

as tim says your camera is really being pushed to the limits, you've got lots of noise in the close up images, the focus is struggling and popup flash is horrid, a DSL would improve the image quality but cost you a few quid, I ask Santa for this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Photographers-Eye-Composition-Design-Digital/dp/1905814046 as a stocking filler.

Thats another thing with digital, be freaking brutal with your edits! The last set I uploaded were three shots from around 30.

This, I agree the camera is limiting but I don't think we should try and push someone in to spending a couple of hundred pounds on new gear with the expectations the images will be much much better for it.
