GT TDI not starting
« on: 27 October 2011, 15:43 »
Recently bought a 98 1.9gttdi 110 with a seized engine and blown turbo, as a bit of a project.

I have had the replacement engine, and turbo fitted, but now the car will not start.

The fuel appears to be getting to the injectors, but the car only turns over.

Could anyone offer any advice on what to check ?

thanks

Did you check the usual things you might of missed to refit? Plugs for crankshaft sensor, maf etc etc , did you hear the engine running before?

the engine is being fitted by my mechanic, and I would have every confidence that these have all been checked.

The engine was bought from a reliable source, but I did not hear it running prior to buying it.

Or even pipes the wrong way round, did he fit it complete  from donor car? As I had a polo that I fitted a new lump in from a donor car fitted it with the throttle body and that wouldn't start, until I swap it over, (as basic setting were different)  does it come up with anything on Vag com, is  he 110% sure he plugged/piped everything up correctly, as it is easy done,

From talking to him there, it appears that he has used the donor engine to repair the original engine, as they were not the same ???

So he will check all pipes and connections again in the morning.
