Simple fix then. Glad it's nothing too serious.

Current cars 1995 Golf gti colour concept 2.0 8v 156,000 miles. bmw 316 1.9 129,000. yeah, life's good! :rolleyes:

surely you can just replace the CV if thats the culprit rather than the whole shaft, may just be a rip in the gaitor and all the grease has come out so needs abit of tlc?

Gaiters not split, got a complete used drive shaft for £25, so saves me the changing the joint (hate cv grease)  :grin:

fitted the used driveshaft and appears to be worse, so think im going to have to get a new one, cant see anything wrong with it though, bit concerned might be the gearbox at fault

What's the flange like gearbox end?

Is there a lot of play where it goes into the box?
