R-tech ,they drove to me in banstead,surrey.Top bloke even cleaned my throttle body as it ticked over strange after test run on new map.A+++ :drool:
What mod changed my post,lol .I didnt put the last bit .Come on how changed it. :undecided: Is there a hacker on here . :laugh: Hows the modderator on this site.  :huh:
AGU 1.8T. Mods done: R32 front bumper, turborev smic, ngk platinum spark plugs, uprated pancake pipe, demon motorsport boost hoses, forge 007 dv, forge engine cover, r-tec stage 1 map ,home made cold airfilter ,run on 98 ron fuel and castrol edge 0w 40 oil. Advanti racing alloys.

I'm planning on getting the golf mapped in the near future and wondered where the best place to go was that's fairly local to me (East Sussex) I think AMD Essex is the nearest vag specialist to me? is there anywhere else in this area or is AMD the best bet?

Don't.

Take it to R-tech - your going to have the car for a while so do it once properly - (I'd say us but they are closer  :wink:)


Doc whats wrong with AMD mate as alot of people really rate them ? The reason i ask is no matter who people ask about there is always going to be a horror story or 2 about them, its the law of averages is it not?

I didn't say that anything was wrong with AMD mate I said that IMHO and if I myself wasn't a tuner and I wanted my 1.8t GTI tuning I'd do the drive from wherever I was to R-tech, they have an excellent reputation for tuning, fault finding and aftercare on golf 1.8t GTI's and they are less expensive than everyone else by a long shot - what's not to like?

I don't doubt that for one minute but IMHO I rate R-tech higher than most when it comes to the 1.8t - I don't know if you read through the original posters previous posts but he seems to have a fair amount of issues with boost leaks, lacking power etc which I think would be resolved in the fastest, most cost effective manner by R-tech.

Agreed, I personally only pay heed to the good feedback I hear about tuners, not the bad as we all have bad days, my company included  :wink:

Thats a fair comment Doc. When people are shopping for anything we all ask what do you think of these or that product and await for replies on there views of such. Ive herd conflicting stories about Revo maps for instance and they have a very good name in the remap world. It then becomes a mindfield of do i or do i not have one. And also becomes very confusing for anyone to make a decision My self included.


One personal issue for me mate is if you could shed some light on is this for instance a mk6 golf gt 2.0 tdi is 140 and the gtd 2.0 is 170. if mapping is safe and the stories are true that vw just map to give the 2.0 140 and 2.0 170 why do they spend extra money on a bigger turbo? And again if it was that simple and safe why would they not just map the 140 to 170 from stock? In fairness when doing those sums it does not add up. Im very curious about this Doc for the above concern and as i said if you or any one else could shed some light on this matter it would be very helpful.

IMHO (again as I'm not the burning bush)

REVO like every other company that writes their own software have their own unique style of power delivery that you will either like or not, again it's a matter of a numbers game as there are probably more REVO'd VWs in the UK than any other remap. If you'd like to try a REVO remap just call your local dealer and see if they can do a trial remap on your car for you.
