bucket seats
« on: 19 September 2011, 20:52 »
just bought a pair of sparco bucket seats for my mk4 diet programme.
anyone here fitted aftermarket seats without buying subframes?.
i am pretty handy with a mig welder so was wondering if the mk4 recaros rails would unbolt so i can mock up a new frame for them to sit on.
i know youre probably thinking just take the recaro`s out and have a look but i just wanted to know if others have done this first?.
cheers, jamie.

that is how 90% of people fit bucket seats.. remove frame from old seat (if you have recaros sell them and by a cheap £50 non gti seat of seats and sell the recaros  ) line the seats frame up to the bucket seat.. you may need to make a little rail.. and then tack weld.. fit seat see if it feels the right height etc and then run a nice weld
