Rust problems

?Why are pre 95 golf mk3's less rustier than post 95 golfs :undecided:

there not take the plastic trim off that goes over the arches and you will see rust,its just you cant see it as the platic covers it up

I took the arches and sill covers off my pre 95 and it was spotless! :cool:

it could of been sorted of the previous owner before you got it i have had 2 pre 16v's and they were fairly rotton,and my post vr6 has little rust bubbles on the wings and on the n/s/r arch but not as bad as my pre 95's

I think actually as a generalisation the earlier MK3's do tend to rust less than the later ones :wink:

The quality of the steel was a bit hit and miss during the 90s, wasn't just VWs that tended to suffer. You'll find some pre that are spotless, some post that look like they have been underwater their entire life.

later they did use galvanised steel (just poor poor quality) with added with strickter paint rules means you will find later 96-97 cars seem to rust worse! (going by the number I looked at buying earlier this year!)

Earlier cars do seem to rust less.
