cutting out

hi all my gti keeps cutting out when coming to a stop sometimes it will die other times it will drop in revs as tho its going to die then they pick up any ideas it is a 2.0 8v

Check Vac hoses for splits/tears. Also check the crank sensor cable but be very careful as they can become very brittle, and if not already on its way out, pulling it could cause additional problems. Just use the search function or look in the maint section as this is quite common and has been asked alot.

Try cleaning out the throttle body and check breather pipes for splits or holes

Try cleaning your oil breather pipes, one of my golfs did the same and as soon as the pipes were cleaned it felt like a differant car.But as above it could be your crank sensor that is faulty also ,clean your oil breather pipse first and work from there

thanks all for the info sorted it cleaned it all out no more cutting out know tho i need to bleed cooling system any one with the best way to do

Top up coolant, leave expansion tank cap off and idle until up to temp. Massage rad hoses (careful they will be hot), and rev to 3k rpm for 30 secs or until coolant rises to the top of the expansion tank. Do this half a dozen times at least. Takes a while but worth doing properly.
