MK6 RCD510 with Dynaudio wanting to upgrade to RNS510
« on: 09 September 2011, 08:53 »
Hi everyone,

I just picked up my GTI 4 hours ago and I'm planning a change already :)

When I was going over the post-purchase handover with the sales woman we both got a bit of a surprise, the car had Dynaudio even though I didn't order or pay for it, woohoo! I ordered all the options I did want except for the RNS510 as the $2500AU price was just ridiculous and I planned on buying a unit off eBay and fitting it myself. I've read heaps of posts on the RCD to RNS upgrade and had it pretty much understood but now that I find I have Dynaudio I was wondering how that will affect things?

Can I still do an upgrade to the RNS510 and keep all the Dynaudio features? I believe the Dynaudio is simply a factory fitted amplifier, is that correct? And on a purely superficial note, if I do the upgrade will the RNS510 still show the "Dynaudio" splash screen on bootup like the RCD510 is now?

Many thanks for your help.

One more question before I make a purchase and then learn it was the wrong on :)

I'm watching a unit on eBay at the moment, it's an RNS510 Version C, hopefully posting a link to eBay is OK:

I've noticed there are Version D models available now, however they are considerably more expensive. Any suggestions on whether it's worth spending the extra on the Version D? Not sure if it makes any difference but I'm in Australia, not Europe.

Thanks again everyone.
