Knocking from rear (not bushes)
« on: 06 May 2011, 19:02 »
I have just spent over £200 on parts and labour having rear poly bushes fitted to try and eliminate the knocking im getting from the rear when hitting even the smallest bump

it sounds like its deffo coming from the rear passenger side somewhere, the noise is like a marble inside a tin can getting shook around and is annoying especially when driving with the windows down.

what else could cause such a horrible noise ?  :undecided:

thanks

rear wheel bearing? knackered brake caliper? twisted brake disc shield?

is it all the time or only when cornering, accelerating? did the garage not spot owt when they fitted the bushes?

Hi

Im having the same problem being described here. Took the car to an exhaust place and they said the middle box was rattling around a lot. They re-mounted it and its much better (no rattle when car is idling) but im still getting a knocking sound like a bushing is gone. Had another mechanic check everything when getting a service last week and he said bushings are all good but theres still some play in the exhaust box.

The back box on my car is a Scorpion. think the middle box is also a performance model, i bought the car with it on and wasnt necessarily looking for a performance exhause but it was already on there. If i was to get a more "standard" middle box fitted do any of you guys think it would fix the problem and also would i notice much of a power loss? Does the main extra power come from the middle or back box??

Thanks

Paul

any real power gains are to be had from increased downpipe bore, and catalytic converter.. eg. sports cat or removal of it completely, i think..
