Well that was a complete and utter t*at of a job to do.
Door lock took me two days

For anyone looking to do this in future a few vital tools needed.
A big hammer and something you can hit repetedly when its going tits up and you wish you hadnt started to take your fustration out on.
Alcohol.

Without a panel removal guide it took me a while to realise i needed to release the window first and hold it up with tape. DOH!
Then realised i didnt have the tool to get the bolts out the door lock and no idea what i needed. Trip to B&Q £30 later got a set of Specialist fittings. M8 fitted well....
That done all came out easy. Got the door lock module out and thought not only would i look at the lock microswitch in the locking mech but also the soldered joints on the circuit board.
Separating the two halves was impossible as i didnt have a tool small enough to get the small screw from the top of the locking mech part. Anyway realised it was defo the micro switch faulty so thought sod it ill put it back together and see if i can get another.
put the door all back together. Armed the car and sod me was still able to open the door. locked or unlocked...

hense the first bout of hitting something.
all to bits again, re looked at the lock mech and thought balls to it. took a hacksaw to the little screw to score it. normal flat head now fitted it so took it all to bits.
First thought id look at the circuit boards. oh good idea rob. opened tha case and ping, parts all over the place.
Put this back together quick after checking the board. all joints looked good.
Now removed at the micro switch. pressing the button controlled the lights on/off and warning buzzer etc. problem was the plunger had worn out.
cunning plan to melt some other plastic onto the plunger head to build it back up to size.
NO! the melted plasitc put on with a piece of copper wire totally melted the plunger.....
cunning plan MK2. took the plastic tube you get on a can of WD40 and made a new plunger. fitted it back into the door lock and bingo it worked.
happy bunny re built the car up. putting the last part back in the door notice a spring on the floor.
yup you got it, goes on the module.

Alcohol time.
door stripped. spring on. door rebuilt. car armed. locked. car disarmed locked.
couldnt open the door from the outside. or the inside or the key in the lock.
now at the point of wanting to cry why oh why did i start.......
8pm
google to the rescue got the door open.
door stripped again. played with the module and saw the problem. thought id fixed it. doorr back on. armed. locked. disarmed. still locked.... but by turning the key it worked....
balls to it. shower food, more alcohol. bed. brain not asleep pondering the lock...
sun 10am
door stripped for god knows how many times. (im an expert at removing this now). door lock all in bits and figured it was the circuit board side cocking me up.
played around with that. put it together and floor tested. now properly locking and unlocking. rebuild the door up completley. then say something stupid to myself....
"any spare parts lying about"
F**k me..

yes another bloody spring on the floor..... and yet it works fine... grrrrrrrrrrr
door stripped. module out. spring on. door rebuilt.
door unlocked and open door/interior lights on. headlights on buzzer working. door shut and armed. un armed. door opens...
yippeeeeeee

about damn time.
for 10 mins i sat and pondered after all the hassle with this do i bother to even look at the boot lock...
sod it. in for a penny and all that.
boot panel removed. plunger arm disconnected from the lock mech. popped it back on. job done. less that 5 mins to fix that one......
what a weekend.
