Do coils just die? Had to walk home tonight :(
« on: 22 July 2011, 22:52 »
Been having probs with mine.  Have ordered a new one but typically not got it yet!

Couple of occassions when car wont fire up I have waggled the leads and unplugged from coil and plugged in again and car started fine, but alas tonight, she would not start and I was left with a 2 mile walk home along the country lanes in the dark!

Gonna bike up to the car in the morning and cross my fingers she starts.  Is there anything else I can do to help her start apart from 'wiggling' or do coils just give up 100%?

Thanks

I've had coils die on many different cars, like anything else on a car they don't last forever.

Without sounding too stupid - throttle body clean process?

Thanks

Done new coil, still same problem

Anything else I can do?  Have done dizzy cap, and have some new leads on order too.

If you used to fiddle with the HT leads and this worked then try new leads as one or more could be faulty. Pity you could not lend some to try first to save you keep spending cash to sort it.
