Some of the thread from the neck came of as it was badly rusted. The cap only turns one revolution and its in place. My other car (seat) turns about 3.5 - 4 revolutions to lock in. I am wondering if I would get away with a long universal fuel cap.

Anyone know if the neck on the mk3 is solid with the tank or can be replaced sepratley?

Thanks

I take it - undo the fuel tank straps (possibly replace?), undo a few bolts  and should come from underneath. I swapped a fuel tank in a nissan 200sx a few years back but tbh can't recall how I done it.

Thanks

That is about it, you need to pull the fuse for the fuel pump and then run it until it stops that lets the pressure out of the fuel system.
