has anyone used a metal (with the rubber) gasket on when replacing the sump or does everyone always use the sealant as a mate of mine (on his audi) after replacing his internals pulled one out, its gold in colour with a black seal on it..  :smug:

just wondered why noone has mentioned this befor as once its on you can fill up and go straight away insted of waiting 12 hrs for the seal to go off  :huh:

I used a wurth sealant, did not wait 12hrs, filled with oil and drove away in 1hr.

ive never seen the gaskets, was there a part no or anything on it? gaskets not listed in etka

When i did my first pick up pipe, tried using a gasket and one of the bolts would not line up with the gearox.

Got VW sealant with my sump from the dealers ,still not got round to doin it yet.
In the haynes manual it say apply sealant, then bolt up the sump within 5 minutes so i suppose it goes off Quick.
