Oil for a DX Engine in a T25 Camper
« on: 13 July 2011, 15:01 »
Hi Guys,

I have a MK1 Gti DX Kjet Engine in my T25 camper. Just wondering what oil people would recommend I use? It is not an everyday run around but gets a fair bit of use. Id say 4000 a year.

Reason I ask is that oil has come along way in lasy 20 odd years since the original spec was listed for the engine, and due to the diesel 4 speed gear box the engine has to pull quite a load and the revs are higher than normal use in a Gti.

Any cheap / good value brands or outlets I should look for?

10 / 40 Mineral is what I think is recommended but would a part or fully synth help? It also has a very slight leak from what I think is the crank seal. Is it a myth that fully synthetic causes leaks?

Any advice much appreciated thanks.
