R.e MK2 Leather steering Wheels.... How much?

Hi All,

I miss having a leather steering wheel on me golf ... me ole mk1 had one ... anyways have been offered one that seems in good nick for £30. is that a good price? Have a 91 plate J... are there any weird non fitting s /wheel issues I should be aware of ?

thats about right, depending on wear i wouldn't pay alot for them. they seem to go for about £45 on ebay so i'd say get it.

the steering wheel spindle size changed around '89-'90 so depending on what age the wheel comes from will depend on what it'll fit.

I thought it sounded fair enough price. Good havin the leather under palm when you tease the car round the corners huh. makes all the difference..... simple pleasures eh

Its a bit mucky, after being stored on old shelf for a while, but does not appear to have any rips, and stitching is good.  Have offered it up to my worn crap rubbery one and is pretty much identical apart from the leather wrapping. I think it will fit.

P.S. Am working my way up the exhaust system at the moment, have replaced the back box, doing the middle section 2moro and will be going for a non cat straight through tube if will fit onto down pipe... am considering getting a g60 d/pipe as you suggested. Depends on price.

i might be able to get you a second hand one if you really want one. i just bought one of the beautifull g60 milltek ones that a friend of mine designed, awesome and show good improvements but aint cheap!!!

For 2nd hand parts I always use http://www.partsgateway.co.uk

You fill in a form and they write off to various breakers yards around the country who specialise in VW's.  They will mail you back with a quote for the parts you want.  I'm in no way affiliated, I just use them a lot.

Ended up buying the leather one from the breakers for 30 quid. Under all the dirt it was in really good condition. Got it home it came up a treat with autoglym leather care and some vinyl + rubber treatment..... I'm a bit sad when it comes to autoglym.. does such a good job.

whilst was at the breakers got some black (golf cl) centre caps and nut covers... I am fitting them on my G60 winter wheels (steelies) that I got a while back ... looks understated and very cool in my opinion..

When got all the recent bits done and cars all cleaned up for the summer.. will take some pics to show you guys.

Uploaded picture of me golf for you to have a butchers at. on page 5 of user gallery... dunno if there is an easier way to see it.

Is a pretty stock 8v'er apart from the G60 winter wheels, with different centre hubs. Oh and the ally gear shifter.

Just given it a bit of a spring clean, hoover out, t-cut and general fettle. Golf's always scrub up well.
