Halford Touch Up Pen
« on: 11 August 2011, 22:34 »
Hi folks,

Got 3 deep scratches (i presume) on the golf - wing mirror roof and door, however there no long, just a bit wide. Think the guy who had the car before me had a tight brick garage.

Anyone tried these pens before? You can see the white on the scrath, I am guess it should apply and be fine. Not too bothered about if being perfect - I am a bit of noob on bodywork stuff.

Thanks

Also any tips on bring faded body work back to life - one of the mirror covers is starting to go pink and the grill part just on the bottom of the front VW badge. Would the grill possibly be due to heat - the rest of the car is very impressive for 14 years old.

Not too bad if your not really worried about the finish. Dont use the applicator brush though, it's far too thick. Use a cocktail stick or something similar. It may take some time but will be much better. Remove excess with thinners as well, as previous owner of mine has done it, and put it on really thick, and it's left raised welts that are quite noticeable. Good luck!

Wouldnt use Tcut, will do more damage than good by removing layers of lacquer. It wont get out deep scratches anyway. Best bet is Meguers ultimate compound. Can get it at halfords as well, and not much more than Tcut. Used it for the first time yesterday, and for small scratches and swirl marks I would recommend it.
