Tramlining and wheel wobble......?
« on: 08 April 2005, 23:13 »
Evening!

Have just fitted a set of Sebrings with Eagle F1s- very happy with grip and handling in general!  Still have a slight wheel wobble from 70 upwards, and the car is tramlining on uneven surfaces a little more than it did on the 14" steels and old tyres.  Is this normal?

I am guessing that the tracking is possibly off?  Have also had the front strut tops done very recently so shouldn't be that.

Any ideas?!

Tracking and balancing number 1 on your list, and yes just got 17's on mine and the tramlining is increased. I was warned beforehand as most of my mates cars do the same on big wheels. Just think of it as 'adding interest' to your driving experience!

yeah get down your local tyre place and get the tracking done and possibly the camber adjusted. when you had the front strut tops done it maye have moved things about, this can make tramlining worse. the wheel wobble is usually from your wheels not being balanced but when you had the tyres put on they should have been balanced. i guess you mean the sebrings from a corrado or rallye? as they are only 15's the diameter shouldn't make too much difference but i've got a set of sebrings as my winter wheels and the bbs i use in summer tramline more because they are wider, it could just be getting used to the difference of steels and alloys?

Wheels were balanced with the new tyres, and yes, they are the 15" Corrado sebrings.  There was very little scrub on the last set of fronts so the tracking may be a slight adjustment, but will get the camber checked as well.  Thanks!

 also whilst you at it check tat the ball joints are in good condition and that the bottom wishbone bushes arn't knackered as this will all go towards the tramlining, have the w/bone bushes ever been changed and how many miles has she done?

Car is on about 115k, not sure about the ball joints and bushes- will check thru the previous owners very extensive receipt collection!  Thanks for the tip.
