well hellooo there
« on: 18 June 2011, 19:14 »
evening folks, new on here, so i'll say hi, got 2 mk2 golfs, a '91 8v gti, bored to a 2.0 running mk3 wide track running gear, and dropped 60mm on weitec shocks / springs, had it a couple of months now, been sorting out loads of little niggles, but it finally feels like i'm getting there!
the other golf is soon to be the ex mrs's, its an '87 1.3c with a 4 speed box we rescued from the scrap a couple of years back for £120! it's not much to look at, as its had a rough time, but its had more money thrown at it than i like to think about! its running coilovers, g60 steelies, 8v gti brakes, gti rear beam and anti roll bar, but still packing the 55bhp powerhouse that is the bulletproof mh engine! both cars are top fun, gotta love em!
right, gonna get back to kung fu panda and a glass of red!
if everything in life was as reliable as my vw we'd all be f**ked!

ok, here goes....
first, 'the ron' '86 1.3 c cara's first car, was a legend of a car sadly left behind when we moved to the isle of man, got a new owner who blew the engine and scrapped him.

then there was my first mk2, a '90 1.6 driver £200 ebay special! met its end in the side of a corsa. still missed.

not a great pic but its the only one i've got.
more recently, the 1.3 when we got it...

during its 'restoration' lol!

and how it ended up! this is definitely its best side!!

nice, if you scan the img code in then the pic will appear without the link, if you upload via photobucket or some such.

5 stud hubs on the mk2? Engine conversion or widetrack? Or both?

she's widetrack. mk3 subframe, hubs, brakes etc. and mk3 rear beam, unfortunately the previous owner didn't bother to replace the rear beam bushes at the same time.  theyre about knackered, another great job to look forward to, (un)fortunately its not the first time i've done a set, the 1300 got powerflex bushes when the gti beam went on, just not looking forward to getting the old ones out, it's a horrible job. then there's my 3rd heater matrix to tackle!  still, could be worse, i could drive a new car that doesn't take up all my spare time and drain my wallet!
