yeah I know ive been meaning to for ages! as at the moment due to the volume of photos and general bits and bobs from over the last 2 years PS esp has been running not as quick as it should!

so need to get all of it off and all the movies etc that are eating space!

I've got a 500GB one and it's dead handy for back ups and archiving older stuff.

thats the biggest thing is backup as if anything were to happen all the work on the macbook woudl be gone, granted ive got the majority of my photos etc on Flickr but better safe than sorry and for £60 cant go wrong :)

I do need a new tripod though!!

Make sure you get time machine set up, such an awesome back up tool. Mine runs every other day. Every month I then archive my photos from the last month onto the drive therefore keeping free disc space on the mac and keeping the size of the back ups down. Once a month I also put my photo archive on another back up drive that my mate has it his place (I have one of his at mine) so we both have off site back ups.

Good to see you getting organised, Stink.

The more anally retentive among us have been taking back ups for years, off to USB discs.

I've got three at the moment - one of which also backs up my parent's stuff and lives at their place, another has their and my stuff on and lives at my place, providing as Nick has already outlined - off-site back-ups.

You can burn my house, but you'll never take my photos/music!

In addition to this I've started applying more rigor to my photo storage recently.  Text searching is now fast and effective, so it's possible to store photos en-mass in month-year named folders, with (where possible) event titled folders within.  Makes clearing off stuff to back-up drives a damned sight easier!
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
