8v engine rebuild

hi, i was wonderin if there is anyone in the south wales area that could recomend a reputable company for an engine rebuild. i got bout 850 and really cant afford to get ripped off. i just had a close call with one company, just before they were suposed to pick my car up i was told that they would just clean the lump up and then just put it back in, so i would just be in the same position, but with a clean engine.

If not does anyone no of any mk2 gti 8v engines for sale?

any help would be much appreciated

I think from memory an exchange engine is £995 so a little over budget but quality is supposed to be top notch and at end of day you'll have a complete 'new' engine!

a full rebuld shoudent b that much they, i got qroted £600, for a full rebuld, of a mrk2 16v
