I'm not a mechanic - let me get that in to start with.
The enginge light came on but the car was driving normally. The garage said it was a low pressure in the turbo system so they've replaced a perished pipe.
The light subsequently came back on. I got a code reader off ebay (£20), which said codes 16795 and 17705.
After doing some research myself, I went back to the garage who cleaned out the throttle body (was very dirty apparently) and have now changed the 'dump valve'.
Code 17705 has not yet returned, but 16795 has; it came back quite soon and even before the engine light came on (I checked with my code reader) and now the engine light is back on too with just that one code.
The car does sound like a jet plane for a minute or two when I start up (but has done for years), and that noise often kicks in even when the car is warm and I'm standing at traffic lights with the window open as I can sometimes hear it for 5 seconds or so.
More research suggests that could be a fault with the secondary air pump.
What should I do next? How much would it cost the garage to replace this?
Thanks.
