Pancake pipe for alloy pipe?
« on: 05 June 2011, 15:19 »
I'm looking to rid my TDI of the silly vw clips they use on the conenctions. To do this I can fit a bigger better SMIC (shame ) and to fit the better SMIC I've been told a pancake pipe from a 1.8t is required as the connections are better suited to the SMIC. My question is can a piece of alloy pipe replace the pancake pipe? Would it be beneficial or is the pancake pipe the shape it is for a reason? i.e to avoid hitting the wheels?

Just looking at different ways of doing this before I go ahead and then have some one then say why didn't you do this or why didn't you use that.

I'm also looking at putting some larger diameter cold air ducting to my airbox. You guys reckon 51 x 500mm would be ok?
