New to detailing with a silver car
« on: 02 June 2011, 22:55 »
Evening all,

I'd really appreciate some advice on my Mk3 and detailing products in general as I've never done this before. Currently I have a mitt and use Meguiars Gold Class shampoo and thats it, it comes out looking good (to me) but as my car is my daily it does take a battering from the elements.

This section is very informative btw! But so many names get thrown around as there are so many products availiable I don't know where to start!

From what I've read, Silver/Light coloured cars need different products? So is something like this ok for a beginner...

Clay kit from Meguiars and...

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/poorboys-light-glaze-and-wax-kit-cat1.html

I'd love to get the wet look if possible, but just to feel the paint smooth is my goal.

If anyone has any experiences with different/better products or has a mental list to share please let me know

Appreciate any feeback :)

have a look at the stickys... and then do a search as there are plenty of threads here now asking exactly the same question

silver/light coloured cars don't necessarily need anything different from dark cars unless you are getting very specific

for starters you are looking at something along the lines of

decent wash mitt
some microfibres
you already have the shampoo
clay and lube
polish and applicators
a good hard wax to protect all your hard work and give some of that wet look you're after

pm waxamomo and Chris will come up with a bundle that I am sure will keep you happy for hours!
