Random (possibly niave) questions MK1 Cab
« on: 04 April 2005, 13:18 »
Hi all,

Just replaced a rear side light bulb in my car when I noticed that the my other bulb was out, after tapping the outside lens the light came back on. I stripped down the light cluster and connections seem to be really snug and in correctly - I'm panicing thinking that the new suspension i have fitted is too strong/hard and is knackering wires connections etc - anyone had similar probs?

Whilst in there I noticed that my carpet wasn't lying flat, upon investigation i noticed that the knob which you screw down to hold the space saver in place, doesn't go down far enough - this is restricted by the 'tread' on either the male or female side (even if you take the wheel and everything out it still protrudes) - any ideas?

I also found a rather strange but OEM looking item, it's like a large black rubber band with 2 big z clips on it (looks like it's for strapping something down)? any ideas

Electric windows - mine has an after market set of front electric windows but one of the switches seems to be cutting out probably due to a thermal cut out, so I think that i need to reaplce the whole lot. After seeing later models (MK1 Rivage or even upto MK3 GTi's) I would like to change the system to an original VW one (albeit not for my car), can anyone suggest which is the best overall replacement package for this, along with any pitfalls i may face.

Thanks guys!!!!!

The original VW loom has a control module which looks like that.

If you are interested I have one for sale with loom and oriignal VW switches that illuminate blue.
