I know nobody is really interested but I thought I'd update the thread anyway.
He's phoned around about two dozen VW dealers all over the country, very little discounts available and long long lead times thanks to the Xenons it seems. So he tried pricing cars up minus the xenons such as low mileage ones in group stock and none would give him a decent part ex price on his Golf. So he's ordered a Mazda 3 hatchback which from the phone photo he sent me looks a bit like an MPS but is a Diesel.
It's in stock, white and goes like poop off a shovel, he tells me.

At least he's sorted.

Trouble with VW's supply/prices is that it moves people out of the brand to one that has stock and will entertain a discount.

If VW wants to lose customers, it has a very good strategy being seen through.

Sorry to hear about your mate converting to a Dark Japanese side.

Although I may be tempted by a Japanese Nissan GTR, which I got to sit in well before they were over here.

Thanks for your advice though Mr_F

And it has to be said, from the very limited things you've said on here......you seem to get around a bit don't you? Fair play to you!   :round of applause smiley:

It's got a good engine, but the car looks ...... how should I phrase it kindly ...... UGLY.
A bit like an out-of-sorts Geisha who's been in a crash.

That's probably about the only Geisha I'd ever be able to afford the services of and at least she doesn't come with a 9 month gestation period and charge extra for all her little 'services'  :smug:

I did a bit of research on it as I'm nosey and a bit bored; 2.2 Diseasel and 185bhp stock, so it should be a very quick pig ugly free car.

My next door neighbour has a Mazda 3 too, I often think that the styling was done by the YTS lad on a Monday when he had the hangover from hell.

It's one of the few Diesel hatches I have driven. That engine is a real goer unlike Geishas who are more show than go. However, the ride reminds me of a Geisha in her very odd foot coverings negotiating a crowded Tokyo street in the snow.

BTW they cost $500 - $1000 (depending on seniority) to just have tea. Our hookers are so much cheaper.
