Claiming owed tax back
« on: 23 May 2011, 16:44 »
Had tgethe sales pitch at work today about company claimin tax back on our behalf, seein as we wash our own uniforms we should have a different tax band. Been told can claim for last 6 years at 60 quid a year. But this company take 41%, so is it a simple process to do on my own and cut out the middle man? any links would be extremely helpful

Speak to your local tax office and explain the situation.  They should be able to advise you of what forms etc you need to fill out to claim the money back

Really easy process to do yourself matey, write a letter to your local HM inland revenue and explain that you wash your own uniform etc.

I claimed for boots ( which I had to buy ) and professional subscriptions as well. In your letter include your
NI number, current tax code and how long you have been employed at your company. They will write back to you and inform you whether your tax code has changed.

Also state that you wish to be paid any deductions owed as well, otherwise they wont back date you if your eligible.

Bollox to that company who will charge 41% - bare faced cheek

Good luck
