Hi,
Just wanted to check, I've been trying to remove the arches/sill from the new car to get at the rust underneath. Arches were easy enough but the sill trim has me a bit puzzled. I seem to recall reading here that it's a standard PH screw, but I only have PH3 as my largest screwdriver and that's far too small for these screws.

Tried with a large flat head screwdriver, and it was the only one that fit in, however the screwhead is so shallow that the screwdriver just jumped out as soon as you tried turning it, without any resistance whatsoever.

I know the last owner put these on as an extra (the car is a CL) and I presume with all the pop rivets elsewhere it's a genuine VW item, but these screws just seem strange to me.

Here's a picture of them I managed to take between monsoons:

Does that look the normal screw, I'm frightened that because it's so shallow (and they're all rusty) that I'll end up destroying the head.

So any advice ?

Chief :)

Moleys or large flat screwdriver should do it.

Thanks for the replies. Just ordered some mole grips off ebay, so once they arrive and the weather improves I'll see what damage I end up doing with them :)
