Maf sensor
« on: 20 May 2011, 16:26 »
as your probably aware im having a few problems with my 1.8t
(not enough power) possible airleek but waiting for my code scanner to arrive

stopped at local garage today , he reckons i need a MAf sensor, he reved the car with the maf sensor plugged in, it reved normally , he unplugged it then reved it  and still normal. but soon as its plugged back in the car cutts out instantly
does this sound like a dodgy maf?,
also just checked prices for one on ebay and there between £170 and £250 for a bocsh one, just rang local parts dealer (andrew page) and they only want £60 for a bosch maf, why is the price massivly different.

update, i had to take the maf sensor off to get the 10 digit number to order the same one, when i put it back on i forgot to plug it back in, i then drove about 3 mile and sh!t myself because i had no power and couldent hear my turbo whistling at all, so thought id broke something, open the bonnet to find i hadent plugged the maf back in dohhh. now i have my power back and can hear the turbo, so i take it the maf isent the problem

yeah thats normal for it to cut out when its plugged back in with engine running, I would hold of buying one until you have got your code scanner and know what the problem is. No point wasting money!
