Realise this is resurrecting an old post but I'm going to be starting to do a 60mile daily commute in the mk2 would I be better off.

A) Staying 1.8 16v Kjet 2Y G/box

B) 2.0 ABF (running OEM management) with 2Y G/box

C) 2.0 ABF (running OEM management) with CDA G/box

D) 2.0 ABF (running OEM management) with CDA and a longer final drive

I actually have option C sitting the garage so that's the one I'm leaning towards but will the OEM management in a lighter car make it more economical If driven sensibly? If so would it be around 35mpg

Cheers

I would think C or D would be best, as you say. Can you find a book consumption figure for a mk3 ABF? Whatever that is, the loss of weight should easily add 5-10 mpg to it. If an old tech Digi 8v can do 40+, I would like to think the ABF would be at least as good (driven in granny mode).

Hopefully someone running the conversion has some numbers....

That'd be great if you had switchable management
