had this on my merc after 2 months from new.. they painted them FOC..

if you go the dealer.. give them the situation of..

if the rust comes off, flys down the side of the car and sticks to the surface and then rusts the bodywork from the outside in... i'll be back...

quick fix now to eliminate a major claim later on is what you need to point out to them.. get a guy who has his head screwed on for business and he will soon approve it.

This was also a very common complaint with the Mk 5 too  :sad:

It's a bit surprising that VW hav'nt improved things with the Mk 6.

Money saving cuts on the mk6 they never addressed  :rolleyes:

That's a bit far fetched isn't it? How is rust getting onto the outside of the paint going to start corrosion of the bodywork? Not to mention the fact that the rusty areas are behind the wheel and under the wheel arch. No dealer in his right mind would buy that one.

The dealer probably thought he was dealing with a nutter so just wanted shot of him quick!
