Strange oil leak..

Hi guys well, last night i noticed i had an oil leak, there was a small puddle by the drivers side wheel, when i opened up the bonnet, i noticed that there was some oil underneath my air box on the tray dripping on the floor, no this has only happened since i had a cam belt cover fitted, garage said it wasn't the best cover to start with, the block also seems to have some oil on same side as the cam belt, no before the cover was fitted i had no oil leaks and the block was free of oil, i went to the garage today to see what they thought and on monday there going to steam clean the block and run it to see where its leaking from, but said that the cover could of disturbed the rocker cover enough to cause the leak. I was wondering though how it got on the tray under the airfilter box? I had to top up the oil today as i was running around done around 50 miles, left the car to cool down and went back and its leaking in the same area, any ideas people??

It could just be a co-incidence. Cam belt cover couldn't disturb any oil seals really.. Cam cover yes. Cambelt cover, no. As for oil by the airbox- that's pretty random.depending on what engine, the only oil there should be from the block breather I'd guess, so??? I reckon you've got to clean it all up properly, drive it and keep cheking very regularly until you see the culprit at an early stage before it spreads..

Could be your breather is blocked.

I had the same issue and it was the breather that was blocked

Just to let you guys know all is fixed (hopefully) turns out that the crappy fitting plastic cam belt cover top part (that goes behind the top pully and attaches to the rocker cover)had bent the corner of the rocker cover up enough for oil to be spat out of the corner, we watched it do this, so that came of, along with rocker cover, new gasket chucked on every thing re tightened minus the offending cover part and all is well, well only time will tell but we ran it and no leaks.
