Fail fitting 288 brakes to polo 1.4tdi
« on: 03 May 2011, 16:43 »
Hi Guys,

I tried fitting mk4 gti 288mm calipers to my polo 9N 1.4tdi. Had seen other people online with the conversion done, thought, as the norm, it would be a straight swap.

Jacked up, wheel off, i see that the standard calipers only have two mounting points? The gti calipers have 4 bolt holes.

Am i missing something or can it not be done?

How have other people in the past managed to fit them to a 9N?

Sorry to post here guys, but i've tried the polo forums in the past and the average member seems to be a 17 year old, there seems to be a much greater wealth of knowledge and experience here.

Any help much appreciated,

Tom

From a quick search on google

You may need to upgrade your hubs to fit the 288mm discs. Could be wrong though as I have no mechanical knowledge just did a quick search

The thread above seems to imply that using the 288mm discs from a 9n polo gt would be the way to go
