Yarp, just starting to get a little fed up with waiting for the next thing to break. I went hell for leather at the start of this year and did a full turbo re-build and engine re-build but she still smells oily, has hot start issues, needs both inner cv's replacing and has very sticky tappets so sounds like a derv. Just thinking about getting somthing newer but everytime i look at her or she drives well for once i think f**k this is good. You shouldnt have to worry about driving 30 miles, listening to every little rattle or worrying that she wont start when you come out of the cinema or whatever. I get like this now and then

Yer Im trying to get away with it for a long as possible. All ex mk2 owners i talk to say whatever you do, dont sell. Put her in storage and start again on the car market or whatever. I may be over it now, just liked the idea of 4wd haha. May just get a zuke jimney

I thought alot of people avoid the APY as it never had VVT? But some say it did but in a mechanical form...

APY had mechanical VVT, the AMK and BAM electro-hydraulic VVT, the APY can only map to about 220bhp ('only' ha ha) and the AMK/BAM about 255bhp.
Also, as regards to 4 wheel drive, the S3 isnt really, the Haldex system runs on front wheel drive the majority of the time

Always aftermarket haldex controllers that can give you more control over the standard system. I remember onn the S3 it was a bit primitive to kick in, bit delayed, by the time you no longer needed the 4wd system it kicked in... good car, wouldn't mind one in the future shame they never came 5dr

their was more differences between the APY and the beteer AMK/BAM too

APY had the lesser K04  - 022  where as the AMK and BAM had the Better K04 - 023

AMK / BAM also has wideband lambda sensor and an egt sensor
