2 Litre head removal
« on: 29 March 2005, 18:09 »
Hi folks
Just picked myself up a 2e 2 litre engine from a mk3 golf and am going about stripping the big fella and stickin it in my mk1, is removing the cylinder head the same (stud pattern) as on the 1.8 ?
To those who have done the conversion, what exhaust manifold did you use?

Thanks
Ben

Head removal is the same as 1.8 . The standard manifold will work, IIRC the block height is 16mm higher, so you may need to modify the downpipe to allow for this. Also watch out for bonnet clearance issues with the inlet manifold/ throttle linkage.
