Hi and welcome

A service on your car should be pretty straight forward no major advice just a couple of pointers:
Always use a genuine VW oil filter as these has some kind of valve in them that the pattern parts (e.g. halfords own etc) don't have. If you don't have a vw garage/specialist in your area a genuine filter can be bought from europarts for next to nothing and delivered to your door. Check out the deals/discounts section of this forum and contact Stuart at euro parts for a 10% discount on all items ordered.
Always use good quality graded oil.
If you are intending to change the distributor cap make sure you correctly identify which make of distributor you have, I think there are two different types on a mk2 8v but not sure of the exact details. Apparently the caps will fit either type but if you have one for the wrong dizzy you may experience misfiring etc.

Hope this helps

Toby

Dear Paulio,

VW have two differnt specifications on coolants one colour for an all alloy engine and another for cast iron and alloy head, although just of late they have released a third which is universal, if you need more info then please just email us direct and I will source the correct part numbers etc.

Also depending on the mileage of the car, ignition leads again use either genuine or magnecor uprated ones, sensible plugs too, bosch/NGK etc.

Other then that a good look around the engine bay and the car in general, make a list if you need too, any thing we can help with then just shout bascially.

G12 is pink and is perfect for your engine, discontinued at VW but can still be bought from GSF if you want it.  Only problem is if its mixed with other coolant it will go a horrible brown sludgy colour!

VW have now switched to G12+ which is a more purply colour, and will mix with anything.  This is what I recommend you buy :)

Dear Paulio,

We are new to the dub scene or I am at least, our business is primary based around the Japanese tuning market of which I have given another branch to the dub scene, bought a golf driver for the girl friend couple of years back, she didn't get on with it, so I used it as my daily runner and the temptous affair began from there, hobby to business as per always the case with me.

We are now on our third project car, the original two cars once completed were sold to friends/colleagues as everyone started to get the bug around me and off course I didn't shut up once I was hooked.

The third project we are using as a demo car for gstar-dubworld, I have had the car built to spec I wanted, so far so good & hopefully I can get to meet some of you good folk as the shows start gathering pace this year, our first outing will be on the 24th April GTi Spring Festival, we will be on the GTi Club Stand so come and say hello if attending.
