Put a 1.8t in, or something adventurous like an R32/36?

whats adventurus about a 1.8T  tbh its now just a run of the mill engine conversion.  2.0 TFSI is adventurus
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

If you really want to do something meaningfull, get a copy of Ricardo Wave (its on Isohunt if you look) and start learn about tuning the proper way, not by bodging a few bits of plastic out of an airbox. If you get good at it and understand the theory (it has some good tutorials) you could design your own cam profiles, exhaust systems, inlet manifolds etc etc using it although explaining how you got the package might be interesting.

Hardly a bodge if it gives proven gains. I just read the word easy, and designing your own exhaust system doesnt go with easy lol

i think DOA is refering to the type of tuneing i like.  where you work out exactly what is happening and WHY then you can make adjustments to optomise what is happenig to exactly what you want to happen.

when your doing proper tuneing you work out exacty what you want then work out how close you can ger with avalible resorces.  work out your cyl head then cams that determines the compression ratio, build the exhaust to suit the cams as best as space allows.  ect  there is nearly 280bhp NA in a 2.0 16v  but you have to do a f**king lot of work  like adding lots of weld to the ports and compltly reshapeing them
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

+1 i think 2.0 tfsi is a good option not ben done that many times.. or as said r36 would be cool..

2.0TFSi is the future and engines will become more available in time.
